Property Tax Help Information Sessions
Attend a Property Tax Help workshop hosted by the City of San Antonio to learn about tax exemptions and tips on how to protest your property value before the May 15 appeal deadline.
The workshop begins with a presentation on the exemptions available to homeowners. The second portion of the presentation outlines the property appeal process and how to prepare for a protest.
Attendees will then have the opportunity to receive one-on-one help from consultants who can help answer general questions, complete exemption forms and complete appeal letters. Representatives with the Bexar Appraisal District will be at the session to fill all completed forms.
All sessions have Spanish and American Sign Language interpreters to offer simultaneous interpretation services.
WHAT TO BRING
Each homeowner should bring:
- A Driver’s License or State-Issued ID
- A copy of the 2024 Appraisal Notice, if available
If you inherited your home from a family member who has died and their name is still on the property records, bring:
- A copy of the prior owner’s death certificate
- A copy of the property’s most recent utility bill
- If you have one, a citation of any court record relating to your ownership of the property (such as a probated will)
If you receive social security benefits due to disability, bring:
- Social security award letter, showing proof of disability
If you are a member of the following groups, additional help may be available. Bring any documents showing you are a:
- Surviving spouse of a member of the armed services killed in action
- Surviving spouse of a first responder killed in the line of duty
- Disabled veteran or their surviving spouse
